No Shave November

It's November again which means awkward chin straps are making a comeback.

I honestly don't remember when the last time I shaved was. I don't even own a razor anymore. & you know what? Not shaving is the best feeling ever. It is so liberating to not have to worry about adding one more thing to my already hectic routine. My life is too busy for me to be constantly mindful about the hair on my shins.

Why did I stop shaving in the first place? I was lazy, if I'm going to be real with you. It had nothing to do with taking back my body. It was out of sheer laziness that I decided not to shave for a month. That's when I realized: why do women have to shave anyway? Why is it that we don't feel beautiful when we have pokey legs or armpits? Why do we put so much value on such a minute part of our existence? Women are held to so many unrelenting beauty standards and this is one that I choose to no longer give power to.

When you think about it, it is quite a ridiculous standard to live up to. Hair is a natural part of our bodies. They are there for a reason. God didn't put them on our bodies with the intent of us ripping or scraping them off of our skin for societal beauty reasons. Why should I then remove something that our Creator saw fit to create? It feels amazing to let my hair grow out naturally and not have to suffer from razor burns. I encourage you to give it and yourself a chance. It really isn't that big of a deal. I often forget about the fact that I have hair under my arms until another girl complains that she haven't shaved in three days. Ain't nobody got time for that! If you want to see how not shaving can be beneficial for you, November is the perfect time to try it out.
