Real, Raw, & Redeemed - Chloie Benton

I hope you're having a groovy Friday & keeping the good vibes flowin'. This week's boss babe is a friend that I hold dear to my heart. She is a ferocious lioness that fights for justice for the broken. Her soul is pure gold & her words are honey. I hope you are as touched by her wisdom as I am.

What message are you trying to put out into the world with what you create?

Real, Raw, and Redeemed came out of a time when I struggled deeply with the idea of perfection within the church. I looked around and was confronted with images and expectations which I simply did not measure up to. I felt less then, invisible, and worthless. My purpose is to be real and raw, while remembering I am redeemed in Christ. I want to encourage young women to be honest about the struggles of the heart without hiding behind a mask of perfection, and ultimately to remind them of the Truth. Having a foundation of redemption shifted my worldview and is redefining my life. The world throws many skewed ideas of perfection at us, and it simply is not reality. Life is a battlefield. Each day must be defined by grace, and falling more fully in love with our Lord. It is my goal to “Dwell with the Lord in the Depths of the Valley” alongside you, because often times more life is spent learning to rejoice in the valleys then dancing on the mountaintops.

What advice do you have for girls who are starting out?

Pray. Pray always. Pray continually. As C.S. Lewis said, “prayer doesn’t change God, it changes me.” The Lord will mold the desires of your hearts through prayer and daily time spent with Him. That is the ultimate goal- to look more like Christ! Continue to seek stillness. Although the Lord has enabled humans to work hard, serve hard, and love hard, you will burn out. Create a daily routine which centers around God. Set aside time to rest, reflect, and remember His faithfulness. He has created us with an innate desire for communion with Him. Do not neglect Him! Do not allow your failures to become your identity. Ground your identity in Christ, and who He is. Then, when hardship comes, you don’t seem to measure up, or the labor is too difficult, you can look immediately to the Lord instead of placing your focus on the circumstances.

What has been the greatest reward of all your hard work so far?

The greatest reward is watching the Lord work in people’s lives. Every time I post, it is with the intention of encouraging and spurring on other believers. So, when I have the opportunity to watch as the Lord uses various words and phrases to impact someone’s life, it brings treasured thankfulness to my heart.

What is your definition of a “boss babe”?

What comes to mind when I think of “boss babe” is a woman who is passionate about truth and zealous about sharing it with others. Thus, she is radically serving the Lord, and develops various outlets to spur others on in their walk with Christ. She strives for selflessness, and actively pursues others. She is boldly stepping outside her comfort zone in order to put the Lord on display.

Why is it important for girls to find their own voice and share it with the world?

If you don’t find your voice in Christ, the world will create your voice. As women of God we are called to stand apart, go against the culture, and pursue righteousness. The world desperately wants us to believe our worth is defined by outward beauty, likes on Instagram, or our relationship status. But that is not what defines us. Womanhood is a gift. When you find your voice in Christ’s revolutionizing love, your voice will revolutionize the world.
