By His Wounds.

Happy Good Friday, & good it is, indeed.

I sit here bearing what is only a fraction of the weight of Christ's death. If you aren't a believer, then the crucifixion of Jesus probably sounds like an insane & weird story. Why would a God come down to earth to die? I grew up in a church & it still seems crazy to me. God came to earth & became flesh & died barely human. He was tortured, whipped, beat, humiliated, & nailed to a cross (a criminal's punishment) even though He is the one being who was guiltless of anything. Why? He died to bring to life those who killed Him. God forsook His Son because He would not forsake us. He sent Himself because He saw us as worthy.

This isn't just something that happened 2,000 years ago that doesn't have any affect on us today. The selfless act of a Man is as real today as it was the day it happened. His final breath is what we breathe. When His Spirit left His body, it entered each & every one of us that will ever be. He did not die so you can be a "better person" (WWJD). He died so that you could be one with God. What other God does that? There is no God besides YHWH & He died for you.

Luke 23:34 - "And Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do'".

John 19:30 - "He said, 'it is finished,' and He bowed His head and gave up His Spirit".

1 Peter 2:24 - "He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin & live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed".

Romans 5:8-10 - "But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by His blood, much more shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by His life".

John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world that He gave His one & only Son , that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him".

Jesus did all of that for you. He created you, He saw you, He loved you, He died for you, & now He lives in you. If you do not know Christ, I pray that you recognize that this is a real God who became a real Man & died a real death out of real love for you. If God did not send His Son, it would be me & you in that video. He drank the cup of God's wrath on our behalf so we wouldn't have to.
