This week marks 1 1/2 years of being vegan.
What was supposed to be a 5 day challenge turned into 18 months of an entirely new lifestyle. I decided to try eating only plants as a way of learning something new. Carnivorous me did not know that it would become something that would enter all corners of my life & become a part of who I am. I altered everything in my life so that I could be a more eco, animal, & people friendly human being.

Personally, I am a vegan for everything. The planet, my health, the animals, & the livelihood of other humans. The mindset that comes with thriving in this lifestyle has taught me so many things & I have grown into a more compassionate person. I care about things that I never would have even given thought to before. I have a capacity to see things from a different perspective & it is so rewarding to be living for something so much bigger than myself. Everything we do makes an impact. It is comforting to know that I am making a good one.
Here are the highlights:
Health
I have been the healthiest I have ever been. I grew up with digestive issues that affected every part of my body. I couldn't find a cure & I didn't know what was the problem. After going vegan, I only experience stomach pains a couple of times, & I used to live in constant pain. My digestion is much better & I have actually gained a lot of weight. That is such a good thing for me! I did not gain any weight since I was 12 & have been underweight for all of my teenage years. It took awhile, but my skin cleared up, & my hair is healthy. I never thought I would ever be able to say it, but I am actually a fairly healthy person. :D
Mindset & Lifestyle
I have learn to become intentional with everything I do. Being cautious of what you put into your body helps you become more aware of the decisions you make in all areas of your life. I have decided to switch to only cruelty-free products, to shop second hand, & to try to minimize my waste. Being vegan has made me realize how much impact I have & it has completely changed the way I live. I started out as an angry vegan. I was very passionate about the new information I had been receiving & I wanted to change the whole world. But I learned to be more compassionate & to not be so mean to people (lol sorry).

I'm so grateful to have been exposed to veganism. It has saved me & turned me into someone I didn't know I could become. I didn't know that living ethically was something I would ever be passionate about. I'm set on being plant based fo lyfe, so watch out for updates every year, forever.
