Think of the women who have gone before you. Remember the way they worked, the way they loved, the way they lived & let that inspire the way that you do the same.

What inspired you to create your own business?

As I started thinking seriously about my career I realized that variety is super important to me. I didn’t like the thought of having one job title and functioning under one set of responsibilities. I was excited about the prospect of having my own business and wearing many different hats.

What do you tell yourself when you’re stuck in a rut?

My momma started a watermelon business in her 50's, she would drive a truck-full of melons down the mountains with a buddy and sold em in our village to break even. Looking back, I think she just really enjoyed the drive. When I get caught up in the chaos of running a small business and I get stuck in a rut, I picture my tiny mom driving a truck full of watermelon with her windows down breathing easy and it gives me a little bit of perspective.

What advice do you have for girls who are starting out?

Embrace uncertainty, it’s such an important part of the process. You may not see it all add up today or tomorrow, but someday you will look back and see how all the to do lists, errands, and daydreams brought you somewhere so so rewarding. Also, celebrate EVERY victory big or small.

What has been the greatest reward of all your hard work so far?

The greatest reward is waking up to a to do list I love. I still feel so thrilled to get behind my camera everyday and I am so thankful for that.

What is your definition of a “boss babe”?

There have been so many of these women in my life. I think these women, though very different, are all the type of people to can straddle so much contrast. Wonderfully chaotic, yet full of peace. Someone who can make a mistake, laugh it off, and start over in the morning. Someone who can hurl themselves at their goals with passion yet maintain perspective. Most importantly, someone who always puts kindness first.

Why is it important for girls to find their own voice and share it with the world?

Girls have so so much resilience. It's what our world needs. The ability to face complexity and sit in tension, yet strive for happiness and a beautiful life. I think girls/women are inherently gifted in resilience and whatever it is they need to communicate should be heard and interacted with.
