"it's just all about being noticed by fellow humans and reminding them how human we really are. And how, at the end of day, we really need each other." We all have a story to tell. Sometimes people need help telling their story. Esther is using her strength in this area to help people say what needs to be said. Life is hard and we shouldn't pretend that it's not. Vulnerability is the new sexy.
What inspired you to create your own brand?
I just love people - getting to know them and their stories. I find it's much harder to judge people or feel like you're alone when we just dive into getting to know each other. I think we forget that this world is a community of humans, no matter our differences. At the end of the day, we are all human and that makes us one in the same, fears and all. So when it comes to conquering our own humanity on the daily, I figured it would be a good idea to run with my passion that transformed into a simple idea to start a blog called, "Grit and Grime."

Where do you wish to see your brand in the future?
Honestly, I don't know. It my blog helps just one person, it'll all be worth it. I do it for the people who are brave enough to be accepted and look for their own hope in others' stories and encouragement. If it ever turned into something more, I would want it to be because it was truly helping people, not because of fame or number of followers.
What message are you trying to put out into the world with what you create?
When people read the "Gritty Welcome" homepage of my blog, they get my vibe real quick: anyone is welcome. I want strangers to feel at home immediately in the community of humans that we are, because I think so often we exclude each other out of our own self preservation. But what I've learned is that differences aside, we're all as grimy and gritty as the next person and that makes each of us unique, with stories worth sharing. I think it's important to share our stories because life is hard, it just is. But when we can put our fears and differences aside long enough to encourage someone else on the same trek up the mountain, we're admitting our own humanity and saying, "It's gonna be okay for you, too. We're gonna get through this."

What advice do you have for girls who are starting out?
People need you. People need what you have to offer because your life experiences and what you've learned is not the same as anybody else. It doesn't matter if five people follow along 1,000, this really just about how you can serve your local or global community.
Who is the audience you wish to reach with your content?
Humans. There's no real marketing strategy here, it's just all about being noticed by fellow humans and reminding them how human we really are. And how, at the end of day, we really need each other.

Why is it important for girls to find their own voice and share it with the world?
When women can do this, they acknowledge their and others' value and significance in the world. Adding to that, I truly believe every human's story is powerful -- powerfully dark or powerfully lit. I say this because I've watched, in very serious circumstances, someone commit suicide and it affects many people. Our life stories hold more power over each other than we realize. When you can find your voice, you can voice truth and love to a hurting world. That's why it's important.
Do you have anything else you’d like to say?
Be boldly humble. People will know you by your opinions but will remember you by your love. No matter what you decide to start, make sure it's with the utmost love and acceptance because we are all leaders and influencers in our own unique ways. And that holds a lot of power.
